Product Description

Anan City in Tokushima Prefecture has long been a center of woodworking, including construction and shipbuilding.
This was also an area where reforestation was actively carried out to secure timber materials.
The "yusanbako" lunch boxes, a unique part of Tokushima culture, were lunch boxes for children to take when they went out to play in the mountains and fields (= "yusan").
During the period of rapid economic growth, the number of craftsmen capable of making Yusan boxes gradually decreased, leading to a decline in the craftsmanship.

This is one of three types of boxes made by craftsmen, carved into the shape of bamboo.
It is made of cypress wood and contains three plastic tiered boxes inside.

The contents varied slightly from household to household, but the standard treats were as follows:
Top: Uiro and sweet agar colored in red and green Middle: Simmered dishes and boiled eggs Bottom: Sushi rolls
