Tea making
Awai Shoten's popular product "Kamikatsu Awa Bancha"
This year, we have been working with farmers to cultivate the fields even before the harvest, preparing for the harvest in July.
Kamikatsu Awa Bancha is attracting attention as a rare lactic acid fermented tea, but producers are aging and there are issues with finding successors.
We also visit fields that are not well maintained and carry out activities to increase production even a little.
I hope that we can spread the appeal of Kamikatsu Awa Bancha and also get people interested in the background of tea making.
This year's harvest is scheduled for July 22nd and 23rd. On these days, we will harvest the tea leaves, rub them in the traditional way, and pack them into barrels. If you are interested, please come along.
Making tea in Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima Prefecture, surrounded by nature, is sure to be a valuable experience and a fond memory.
