Naruto wakame seaweed, grown in rough seas, boasts a firm texture

Naruto Satoya has been involved in the production of seafood and agricultural products for over 110 years since its founding in 1906.
We produce salted wakame using traditional preservation methods that incorporate time-honored wisdom.

Very few producers wash the wakame in seawater instead of fresh water after harvesting, but by maintaining an environment close to the sea, they are able to achieve a texture that is as close to the original as possible.

Characteristics of Naruto wakame

Naruto wakame seaweed from Tokushima Prefecture has short stems and is very thick because it is grown in the Naruto whirlpools, the largest in the world, and the strong currents that create them.
It is characterized by its chewy texture and rich flavor.
When boiled or cooked, it turns a vibrant green color, making it a great accent piece on the table.

Naruto wakame is harvested in early spring when it is still cold in aquaculture facilities on the ocean surface, and wild wakame that grows on reefs is collected by free diving.

In recent years, the catch of wild wakame has been declining, making it increasingly rare.
Another unique feature of Naruto wakame is that while the usual wakame season is from February to May, the season for Naruto wakame is from January to March.

How to eat salted wakame seaweed deliciously

Cut wakame seaweed is easy to use in cooking. After removing the salt, dip it in hot water, then chill it in ice water and enjoy it as is with ponzu sauce or other sauces!

You can also eat it without cooking it in vinegar dishes, etc., and enjoy its crunchy texture.
