Premium Awa Bancha is made from Sayama Kaori, a representative variety of Sayama tea, grown over a period of seven years in the natural surroundings of Kamikatsu Town, Tokushima Prefecture. This tea is highly rare, with production volume accounting for only 15% of the native varieties.
It has a rich aroma and a deep, robust flavor. It is also milder in acidity than existing bancha tea.
Kamikatsu Awa Bancha is a rare and precious tea that is made by boiling pesticide-free tea leaves, soaking them in barrels, and fermenting them with lactic acid bacteria. This unique method of fermentation gives it a refreshing sourness.
Because it contains very little caffeine, it can be consumed by anyone, from pregnant women and babies to the elderly. It is also said to be good for improving bowel movements and relieving stuffy noses.
About Kamikatsu Awa Bancha

Awa Bancha is a uniquely flavored tea made in the mountainous region of Tokushima Prefecture, where it is boiled, steeped, and fermented with lactic acid bacteria. It's rare to hear of lactic acid fermented tea anywhere in the world. It's also a lactic acid beverage, so it goes without saying that it's good for your health.
As it conveys ancient tea-making techniques, it has also attracted attention when considering Japan's food culture surrounding tea, and in March 2021 it was registered as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
