Citrus cordial Iyokan 200ml Yamagami Kaju Yakusoen
Do you know what a cordial is?
It is a concentrated syrup infused with herbs and fruits.
After squeezing out the essential oils and juice, the Iyokan fruits, which still retain their rich aroma, are layered with rock sugar and left to stir for four days without applying heat. This results in a candied fruit with an exquisite sweet and sour taste. The fruit is then slowly pressed to extract concentrated Iyokan syrup.

About Yamagami Fruit and Medicinal Plant Garden
"Yamagami Kaju Medicinal Herb Garden" is a facility operated by Matsuyama Oil Co., Ltd., a Tokyo-based company that has expanded into Tokushima Prefecture. Some may question the company's expansion into such a remote location, but Matsuyama Oil Co., Ltd. is a company that handles soap and skin care products. Usually, the raw materials for cosmetics are purchased from manufacturers, but the company does not just purchase the ingredients, but also cultivates them itself, and wants to carry out everything from processing to quality control.
Why a small village in Tokushima Prefecture?
Matsuyama Oil produces a variety of products, but their "Yuzu Body Lotion" which uses domestically produced yuzu essential oil is particularly popular. However, in recent years, interest in and demand for Japanese citrus fruits, including yuzu, has increased, making the stable supply of yuzu essential oil uncertain. So, through a person who is instructing the 6th industry in local governments across the country, a relationship was formed between Matsuyama Oil and Tokushima Prefecture, and they came across Sanagouchi Village. Tokushima Prefecture is the second largest producer of yuzu in Japan, and the largest producer of sudachi, making it a famous producer of Japanese citrus fruits. Cultivation in the village is particularly thriving.
Circular and sustainable
There is a saying among the Native American Navajo people that "the natural environment is not something we inherit from our ancestors, but something we borrow from our descendants." The water, the soil, the air, the blue of the ocean, the green of the mountains - all of these are assets that must be returned to us later. This way of thinking means that we should respect nature and make careful interventions, and when we do, do so gently and softly. This way of thinking resonates with me. When making decisions at Yamagami Fruit and Medicinal Plant Garden, we also want to look to the future and consider what we should do from the perspective of the next generation. And they aim to be a presence that is valued and needed by everyone in the local area in 10 or 20 years' time.
