[2025 Harvest New Tea] 100% Organic Kamikatsu Awa Bancha (Tea Bag Type)
In 2025, the tea was picked at the end of July, and after undergoing lactic acid fermentation, sun drying, and sorting by the end of September, it was ready for sale as new tea from October!
This rare lactic acid fermented tea is made entirely by hand during the hottest summer months, steeping in barrels. Its extremely low caffeine content makes it easy for anyone to drink, from babies to the elderly. Its benefits include improving constipation, reducing hay fever, and preventing diabetes, and it has been featured at Tokushima University, in magazines (*), and on TV.
* This product was nominated in the Wellness category of the "anan Trend Awards 2025."
This tea is a convenient tea bag type that you can enjoy whenever you want. One tea bag will make one teapot's worth of tea (approximately 500-600g). Palm fiber may be trapped in the tea leaves during the grinding process. This does not affect the product, so please rest assured.
About Kamikatsu Awa Bancha

Awa Bancha is a uniquely flavored tea made in the mountainous region of Tokushima Prefecture, where it is boiled, steeped, and fermented with lactic acid bacteria. It's rare to hear of lactic acid fermented tea anywhere in the world. It's also a lactic acid beverage, so it goes without saying that it's good for your health.
As it conveys ancient tea-making techniques, it has also attracted attention when considering Japan's food culture surrounding tea, and in March 2021 it was registered as an Important Intangible Folk Cultural Property of Japan.
Characteristics of Tea

Each household in Kamikatsu picks the cherries and the pickling method varies slightly, resulting in different aromas and flavors.
Therefore, we recommend trying different types of tea to find your favorite brand.
There are other features as well.
・It contains very little caffeine, so it is safe for babies and pregnant women to drink .
- Contains anti-allergy ingredients that help to reduce allergic reactions to pollen, rhinitis, and other allergies (individual results may vary)
・Completely pesticide-free organic tea
Awai Shoten's Kamikatsu Awa Bancha

My first encounter with Kamikatsu Awabancha was four years ago, and I still remember it as a shocking and moving experience.
The landscape where the tea leaves grow was not the neat and tidy one I had imagined, but rather the trees growing wildly in all their own way, so much so that an amateur like me would not know where they were. I was fascinated by the vitality of the strong, sturdy buds of the evening tea, which were trying so hard to grow.
We work closely with local farmers, supporting them and learning more about tea every day. This is why we can recommend this product with confidence, and it is actually our best-selling product.
We will continue to spread the appeal of Kamikatsu Awa Bancha to the world through tea production, and strive to overcome challenges such as declining production due to aging and the issue of successors.
